Many students reach their first research opportunity with curiosity but very little context. They may know the field that interests them, but not how a lab meeting works, how to read a paper efficiently, or how to ask for a task that matches their skill level.

The bridge is preparation without gatekeeping. A student should be able to understand the rhythm of research before they are expected to perform inside it. That means vocabulary, methods, mentor expectations, and room to ask basic questions.

The goal is not to make research easier. It is to make the doorway legible.

For donors and volunteers, this is where support becomes visible. A short workshop, a clear reading guide, or a mock interview can change whether a student feels like a guest in academia or a contributor to it.
